Chants for the Resurrected King, for Organ, Percussion, and Narrator (1979) (Live)

from The Interlochen Years (1977-1979) (5 tracks) by Kenneth L. Field

/

about

This work is based on a superimposed image of Jesus on a large page of staff paper (track image). Texts from the New Testament are read intermittently by the narrator and some percussion is added. The organ part is largely improvised based on the impressions the image makes on each staff of music. Their are some directions the organist must follow, but the exact notes are for the most part up to the organist. First performed on March 4, 1979. This recording dates from May 28, 1979.

lyrics

Texts used: Romans 13:12, Luke 11:33-36, John 8:12b, I John 1:5
